DVA Counselling Services

Supporting Veterans and Their Families

Soul Play is proud to be a registered provider with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). We warmly welcome veterans and eligible family members, providing compassionate, trauma-informed counselling and social work services in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

If you hold a DVA Gold Card or DVA White Card, your appointments may be fully funded by DVA with a referral from your GP or treating medical specialist.

How We Can Support You

As registered DVA social workers, we provide professional support across a wide range of life challenges, particularly those associated with military service, transition, trauma, and major life changes.

Our services include:

  • General counselling and emotional support
  • Case management
  • Advocacy and referrals
  • Access to community and veteran support services
  • Discharge and transition planning
  • Employment and vocational counselling
  • Housing and accommodation assistance
  • Family therapy with a focus on veteran wellbeing
  • Education and self-help resources

Whether you’re managing mental health concerns, relationship challenges, housing issues, or adjusting to civilian life, we’re here to support you with empathy, dignity, and respect.

Support for Veteran Families

Family members may be eligible for DVA-funded social work services if they hold a DVA Gold Card or DVA White Card.

For family members who are not DVA card holders, support is also available through Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling, a free and confidential service for veterans, current and former ADF members, peacekeepers, and their families.

Open Arms provides:

  • Individual, couple, and family counselling
  • 24-hour crisis support through the Veterans & Families Counselling Service
  • Case management
  • Mental health education and group programs
  • Transition and lifestyle support
  • Suicide prevention initiatives
  • Alcohol and lifestyle support programs
  • Online self-help resources

You do not need a DVA card to access many Open Arms services.

Additional Veteran Resources

We also encourage veterans and their families to explore these valuable resources:

  • At Ease – Mental health information, self-help tools, and wellbeing resources.
  • The Right Mix – Practical advice and resources for healthy lifestyle choices and alcohol awareness.
